Current PC keyboards I find pretty unusable, and one has to work hard to get a decent number of pixels on a decent monitor at a decent refresh rate. - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Apr 96 07:24 PST From: bkis@island.net (Jonathan Thornburg) Subject: seeking SunOS 4.1.4 sun4c kernel zs_async.o To: suns-at-home@tigger.net-kitchen.com In SAH v9 n10 I described a problem I'm having with serial ports locking up during kermit/tip downloads on a Sparcstation ELC (4/25) running 4.1.3 + the Jumbo TTY patch (#100513-04). An E-mail correspondent has suggested that 4.1.4 contains a much improved serial port driver, better even than the one in the Jumbo tty patch. I have the standard SunOS RTU, so I could legally borrow a 4.1.4 CDROM and upgrade ... except that I don't have a CDROM drive, and physically transporting my disks to a Sun that does, would be awkward. Could someone running 4.1.4 on a sun4c (Sparc 1/1+/2/SLC/ELC/IPC/IPX) please E-mail me your /usr/kvm/sys/sun4c/OBJ/zs_async.o (uuencoded)? Please help to configure tip and rz! I use tip, but can do only manual connection: "tip modem; atdt9999" If I try to enter phone # in a command line "tip 9999" I get "can't synchronize with hayes" message. So, I think that I need to change or add some config file that is used by tip. Which one and what should I put in it? I have IPC with *bare* Solaris 2.5 - binaries only, no man, no uucp. And another problem: I try to use z-modem to transfer files, but rz doesn't seem to synchronize with sz on the other side of a line. If I say "sz file" on one end and "rz" on the other I can see sz trying to send a file (000...etc), I can see rz trying to get a file (000...etc), but nothing happens. What do I do wrong? Should rz start automatically? How to make it work? It's not tcp, so it sould not be inetd, right? Andrei. - ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
