I'm trying to resurrect a 3/80 that suffered from a dead NVRAM battery. I fixed the problem, but obviously the contents are invalid. I've tried fooling with the ROM monitor, but I can't get a valid combination to get rid of the dreaded "Invalid IDPROM" messgae. If someone could provide me with a hex dump of the NVRAM from a working 3/80 I'd be most grateful. Also, I have bootprom 2.9.2, and a Tandberg 150M SCSI tape drive. Can I install SunOS off this drive, or will I have to come up with another solution? I have the internal drives set as SCSI ID's 0 and 1. booting "sd (0,0,0)" or "0,1,0" or various combinations result in "device not found" errors. is this normal if these drives do not have sunos installed? The system passes all extended diagnostic tests. thanks much! - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Dec 95 21:23:39 -0500 From: "Robert L. It has the standard PC VGA 15 pin high density D connector. I also have a Sun 3/60 with a cg3 on its daughterboard. I would like to use the monitor on the Sun, if it is possible. The Sun has BNC outputs for Red, Green, Blue, and Sync. The monitor has the aforementioned 15 pin D connector with inputs for Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal Sync, and Vertical Sync, among other things. Is it possible to connect the Sun's color video to a multisync PC monitor? If so, what is the pinout of the cable required between the two? Robert L. It's an NEC D5655 drive (ESDI). I have an Emulex ESDI controller, so I'm looking for jumper/dip settings, and formatting info. Anyone have it ?? Any help would be appreciated. To: suns-at-home@tigger.net-kitchen.com Hi, I have a SS10 running SunOS 4.1.3. I compiled the kernel for cslip and have a USR Sportstar 28.8K modem setup for dialing in. However, I noticed that when I dial in to the system from work or other machines on my small LAN, the connection is randomly dropped after X minutes. I used different modems and the problem still happens. Once the connection is dropped, I can't dial in or can't use tip on the modem. I get "all ports busy" message from tip. 'who' shows that my dialup session is still there. I end up commenting out the /etc/ttytab entry for the serial port (ttya) and HUPing init to reset the line and then removing the comment and reHUPing init to enable the line again. This is a bit annoying. I do not know what is causing the problem. Anyone have any ideas ? Thanks in advance.
