To: Suns-at-Home@ecn.purdue.edu Hello, I am looking for a public domain disassembler for the executable code (on Sun Sparc). I would like to go from the executable to assembly code and then (hopefully !) back to the executable. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -dmitry ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Mar 1994 23:09:00 -0800 From: David Herron Subject: SCSI bus out of phase .. To: Suns-at-Home@ecn.purdue.edu All, Thank you for helping out. As you can see my system is back on the air. Matt gets the prize for answering first with the right answer. He suggested connecting the boot disk directly to the motherboard, bypassing all the connectors in the external box. This worked like a champ and I was able to recover the system. Now the problem is the new configuration for the system... Unfortunately for my pocketbook his answer arrived AFTER I'd bought a new boot disk. At least now I have a Computer History display of recent disk drive technology. 3yrs old: 5 1/4" full height, 600 MB, $2/MB. 1.5 yrs old: 500 MB, 3.5", full height, $1.5/MB. 2 weeks old: 3.5", 1/2 height, 1 GB, $0.80/MB. And the speed increases with each one. The only thing that hasn't changed is the abysmal user interface on /usr/etc/format. The weird thing is that the Sun 60 meg tape drive works fine in the external case while the Archive DAT and the former boot disk both are failing. I haven't tried the DAT directly connected, yet, to see if it's the cable. Sending a file from the Sun2 to the Sparc takes forever. I think the problem is that the Sparc sends out back-to-back packets on the net and the Sun2 can't clear its buffers fast enough, so only one packet at a time gets through. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Ken ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
