I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether the ALM-2 card (16 serial ports) supports full modem control (i.e. carrier detect and hardware flow control)? I am considering putting a few 14.4K modems on it, and I'd want to run them at 19.2K or 38.4K with hardware flow control, if possible. Any ideas if the ALM-2 will actually run at 38.4K (or faster?) Thanks! Simon Hackett simon@internode.com.au ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Aug 1993 17:32:05 -0400 From: halmonster Subject: Laser Printer Recommendations? To: suns-at-home@orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu I'm finally in the market for a laser printer for home. I've seen HP's at work, but I'm not sure if I want the personal model, or even if HP is ideal. I don't plan on doing much beyond letter writing and some chart type stuff. Any pointers for which brand name I might want? Also, is it best to buy from a local computer store, or mail order? I'm sure mail order is cheaper, but I understand laser printers can be high-maintenance items. Thanks... To: suns-at-home@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu We have a Fujitsu M2263S SCSI disk that has previously been formatted in 1024-byte blocks for use on a Next. We now want to use this disk on a Sun, and so we are trying to reformat it in 512-byte blocks. This appears to mean that we need a utility that will let us do a low-level SCSI format from a Sun. (We don't have any other platforms to which we can attach the disk.) Is there such a utility that will run on a Sun Sparc (4.1.x only, please)? Or is there some other way of recovering this disk? * Jean Ezell * University of Illinois * voice: (217) 244-5536 * Network Administrator * Coordinated Science Lab * fax: (217) 244-1642 * ezell@csl.uiuc.edu * 1308 W. (Also > known as the DEC RD-54.) Fast, reliable, and easy to swap in. I believe > it's 1224cyl, 15hd - I can look it up if need be. I just buy used Microplois 1325's or Fujitsu M2243AS's and drop them in. My 3/160 has 4 Fujitsu's in it. -D ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Aug 93 23:29:54 PDT From: killion@public.btr.com (Richard R. Killion killion@btr.com) Subject: U1 Patch for 4.1.1 ? To: Suns-at-Home@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu U1 Patch for 4.1.1 ? Does anyone know how to install the SunOS patch for 4.1.1? It is normally referred to as the "U1 patch". I would like to install it on my Sun 3/60 and have the patch on tape. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. killion@btr.com ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
