I have transcript available, that can help, can't it? Will I be severly limited in what I print due to memory constraints? I know better than to expect anything in a hurry. Thanks. To: suns-at-home@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu I have a Maxtor 8760E ESDI drive that I want to use in a Sun shoebox that used to hold one of those Micropolis 141 MB drives. Anyway, I thought this should work, but I've having all kinds of problems. It seems that I have a different problem every time I try to format the drive and install the OS on it. I can put the Micropolis drive back in and everything works fine!!! Does anyone have that particular drive working inside one of those Sun shoeboxes?? What's the secret? -greg gulik@rtsg.mot.com (Gregory Gulik) [NeXT] [MIME] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Aug 93 19:52:00 EDT From: mark@tower.com (Mark Duening) Subject: Playing music from CDROM connected to 4/110 To: suns-at-home@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu I have a CDROM drive connected to my Sun 4/110 (SunOS 4.1.1). When trying to run the 'cdplayer', 'x_cdplayer' programs from the /usr/demo/CDROM I get the error: cdrom_stop:ioctl: Inappropriate ioctl for device ioctl: Inappropriate ioctl for device Inappropriate ioctl for device I've also tried the 'workman' program with no success. What can I do to make this work? Seems like I've seen a number of 386i related postings to this alias, so I'm trusting that these obsolete machines are still popular for home use. I'm looking for SunOS (4.0.2 I guess) for the 386i on either 1/4" tape or floppy media. If anyone out there (hopefully local to the SF Bay Area) has a copy of the distribution that they would allow me to load / copy, please let me know. -brad albom Software Engineering Solutions, Inc 2685 Marine Way, Suite 1215, Mountain View, CA 94043 Voice: (415) 969-0141 Fax : (415) 969-0177 Email: brada@sesinc.com Alt : oilean!ses11!brada@sgi.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Aug 93 13:13:52 EDT From: Ilya Faenson Subject: SunPC 3.1 and 486DX Accelerator Board For Sale To: Suns-at-Home@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu I have the 486DX 25 MHz Accelerator board that can go into any Sun workstation with an S-bus slot available, and the latest SunPC software from SunSelect which lets me run any DOS, Windows, or OS/2 applications under the OpenWindows. Basically, it's a 486 PC built in into my SparsStation IPC. I'm selling because I have a monochrome monitor, and an Accelerator board is not doing the graphic acceleration for me therefore: Windows and OS/2 Presentation Manager are somewhat slow on my machine. It all worked great though when I tried it on the IPC with a color monitor. I'm not willing to spend another $3-4K or so to get the color. It's ideal for somebody who has the color or grayscale monitor already. I bought both the software and the board two months ago for $1,523.30. Everything that came with that is in the boxes. All reasonable offers accepted.
