I am looking for someone with some hardware info and experience to locate the proper chip on the CPU board (Sun4, P/N 501-15220 and -09 REV50). Diagnostics pegs the error (repeatable) as a "Cache Data RAM" error during the "3 pattern test" Address: 0x00018120, Expected 0x2c5a972c, Got 0x2c5a9728 ^ ^ | | As you can tell, this is a single bit error. I can replace the chip, *if* I can determine which one. Until then all I get are panics. *Anyone* know??? Or know who I might ask? To: suns-at-home@ecn.purdue.edu Hi, I might have the option to get 2 IPI disks for free, but I don't have a controller for the beasts. My question: where do I get a used IPI controller for my 3/160 (VMEbus machine)? Is this at all possible? Another question: what are the memory boards the 3/160 is capable of? The biggest ones I have seen have been 4 M but this seems a bit to small for me... (don't want to use up all my slots for Memory) aren't there 8, 16, 24 or even 32 M boards for the 3/160? I would need a QIC-24 (ie 60Mo) or QIC-150 (150Mo), (actually anything that would be able to read the QIC-24 system tapes) internal or external, SCSI or MT-02 (i believe the scsi<->mt02 card of shoebox is still alive). so if anyone has an old tape drive to sell, please e-mail me ! 2/ i have add a second ESDI disk in my shoebox, pluggued in the MD21 card together with the original micropolis disk. the new disk is a NEC 5655. i had trouble to format it, now it works but sunOS complain (when checking filesystem or sometime when using it) that there are "too many soft errors". questions : what does these soft errors mean ? may/will data be corrupted on the disk ? i've heard strange things like the md21 has trouble to manage two disks with a different geometry. any idea ? thanx for replying to : or : best regards Daniel Braun ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
