I can't help with your hardware problem, but I should point out that there does exist at least one *free* (GNU copyleft) Unix for 386 boxen -- Linux. I have been using it to survive a "Sun eclipse" in the past 2 months, and it's pretty nice. In particular, it's very fast, hasn't crashed once, and (most important) has the "look and feel" of "real Unix" (eg ScumOS). The documentation is written for the Unix-knowledgable, but is actually quite good. It doesn't have all Sun's fancy features, but most of the standard Posix stuff is there. See comp.os.linux for details. - Jonathan Thornburg through end of (calendar) 1992, then or [for a few more months] U of British Columbia / {Astronomy, Physics} [then through Aug/92] U of Texas at Austin / Physics / Relativity ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
