I am new to the Sun world (but not to U*X) so please be patient. First of all, It seems to be running SunOS 4.1.1 but some things seem to be missing (A few header files at least, may be more). The system has had a strange life and has been passed around between many parties before winding up at my door. I figure it would be best to reinstall the OS and start from scratch. Of course the system did not come with boot tapes or much doc. Anyhow, I called Sun and they want $500 for boot tapes. Ouch! Can I borrow or buy the tapes from another source? Secondly, My final goal is to run X11R5 on the machine. It has 500+ megs of disk and 24megs of memory and a mono monitor. Can someone give me an idea of how X will perform. ie will it be usable? If I can't run X I won't have much use for the machine. Finally, I have a HP (98785A) color monitor and was wondering if there was a way I could use it with with my Sun?
