I believe that the problem is the main video board that mounts on the right side of the chassis (looking to the back of the monitor). This board appears to be Moniterm part #997-1100-01. If anybody has a board they'd be willing to sell me, please drop me a line. I'm knight@santafe.edu, and my daytime phone is (505) 989-7969. To: suns-at-home@orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu My sun 2 server (read:boat anchor) seems to have temporarily given up the ghost. It was running fine, and I shut it down normaly when I went away for the long weekend. I came back, and turned it on, and saw the following: Self test completed successfully Sun Workstation, Model Sun-2/120 or Sun-2/170, Sun-2 keyboard ROM Rev R, 4MB momory installed Serial #2501, Ethernet address 8:0:20:1:3:C Probing Multibus: ec Auto-boot in progress... Boot: ec(0,0,0)vmunix nd: no file server, giving up. (so, then I typed: ) >b sd(0,0,0) Boot: sd(0,0,0)vmunix Timeout Bus Error, addr 00EE2804 at EF5C78 ( and then, with the boot tape in the drive: ) >b st(0,0,0) Boot: st(0,0,0)vmunix Timeout Bus Error, addr 00EE2804 at EF6058 It seems as if the SCSI combo tape and drive adapter are nowhere to be found. This is a Sun-2 server system, and has been running at home form several months. The controller is a sd with a Maxtor XT-2190 attached. Both the disk and tape drive worked fine before this. The easy attempt to fix this was to reseat all the multibus boards, but that did not help. I have minimal docs, so if anyone knows how to use the diagnostics on these things, the help would be appreiciated. Regards, Peter P.S. If anyone knows where to get more memory for this beast...
