Tower PC Case $115 obo. - 230 Watt PS - 3 full height bays, all open to the front panel. - 8 slot cutouts in rear. - Cutouts for multiple DB-25 and DB-9 connectors. - Wide pedistal base. - Power, Reset, and "Turbo" switches. I was using this case to hold several SCSI drives for a while. The only modification I made was to enlarge one of the DB-25 cutouts to accept a Sun-type DB-50 SCSI connector. Otherwise, it's "mint" Adaptec 4000 SCSI-to-MFM controller. $50 obo. Will control two MFM drives. Used in a shoebox for a Sun-3. I will include drive cables for one drive. Sun-2/50 Monochrome Monitor $60 obo. This is the 1152x900 monitor that came with a Sun-2/50. It fits in a dimple-top case, so it has no base. It has TTL level inputs, and is not switchable to ECL, so you'll need to build/find a level converter to hook it to a Sun-3. Sun 2/50 motherboard $50 obo 1 Meg, ether, 2 serial, mono. VME. Works fine. Sun 2 Keyboard $25 obo This is the one that came with my 2/50 originally No mouse. Sun 2/50 expansion board w/ 4 Meg Okay, I have upgraded to a Sun-3, so I cannot use the 2/50 memory, but I *do* need the SCSI board. So, if you have a 0 Meg expansion board, I will trade. Better yet, if you have a vanilla VME SCSI board that will work with my 3/160, you will qualify for our discount plan! And you get the 2/50 SCSI board too! Trade for 0 Meg expansion: $125 + trade obo. Trace for SCSI board: trade obo. Further discounts are available for package deals. You think the prices are too high? Make an offer! Buyer pays shipping, except on trades. Local buyers who pick up will get priority consideration. -bill rankin wtr@bromo.att.com ph: (919) 563-8618 (h) (919) 279-7081 (w) Mebane, NC (between Greensboro and Durham on I-40) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Mar 92 10:41:21 -0500 From: nulspace@cs.UMD.EDU (Michael Chang) Subject: Sun3 to Sun4 Upgrade Credits? To: suns-at-home@orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu >From me, here are these questions three: Does anyone know how much credit (if any) one gets if you try to upgrade a Sun 3 (specifcally for me, a Sun 3/50, although info on other models would be nice just for comparisons) to a Sparc of any kind? Does anyone know of any third-party Sparc Clone makers that will exchange your old Sun 3 for credit towards a new box? Is anyone familiar with Sparc/Sparc Clones that can be purchased at discounts at universities? I am at a university that sells nExt-stations (blech) at the campus computer store, and longs for a educationally discounted Sun box ... -- Michael Chang inet: nulspace@cs.umd.edu Department of Computer Science (EE Goofball) uucp: uunet!mimsy!nulspace University of Maryland, College Pk ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1992 11:42:24 +0000 From: Granville.Moore@MCS.London.Coopers.COLYBRAND.gold-400.gb Subject: Suns-at-home in the UK / Silicon-Graphics-at-home To: SUNS-AT-HOME@ORCHESTRA.ECN.PURDUE.edu Hello, I've just started reading this mailing list, and I have a couple of questions: 1) I haven't seen any postings from the UK, so far - are there any other readers of Suns-at-Home in the UK? 2) I recently acquired (amongst other antiques) a couple of Silicon Graphics Iris 3130 systems - is anyone else into sgis-at-home?
