To: suns-at-home@orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu (suns-at-home mailing liste) Hi! Does anybody out there have any experience concerning a 3/160 booting from a 150 MB streamer? Are there any patches for booting from such a beast? To: sah%orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu%BOTTETH@BNR.CA, sah@orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu I'm looking at (in a few months) putting a CD-ROM drive on my SUN-3/60. What are my options? I understand that the SUN one is quite expensive. I was in Palo Alto recently and saw CD-ROM players for PCs for as little as $189.00. So are there cheap 3rdparty SCSI CD-ROM drives that can be easily integrated into a SUN-3/60? -- Marcus Leech, 4Y11 Bell-Northern Research |opinions expressed mleech@bnr.ca P.O. Box 3511, Stn. I'm currently using suntools (which is tiny), i might try OpenWindow , has anyone use X-windows ? I could do it myself (make up cable, -> connectors, etc), but I'm *very* short on spare time these days. -> These connectors seem to be one of the only a few types that companies will sell these days: Centronics (Amphenol 50 line), Microchanel aka SCSI II aka Honda, and "DB-50". I was rather surprised as I didn't think anyone but Sun used those triple row connectors for SCSI. Two companies we've delt with here are Fast Access (708-530-7749) and Consan (708-519-1060). Either company can sell you a case with power supply and the connectors you want. disclaimer: I've only be a mostly satisfied customer of these companies and have no other relationship with them. -- <-:(= Anthony Stieber anthony@csd4.csd.uwm.edu uwm!uwmcsd4!anthony ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
