The power consumption may vary slightly between models and manufacturers, but not enough to worry about. There are 330 meg drives, used, for around $700 that I have seen on misc.forsale.computers; I think that you can go up to 1.2 gig or more in that form factor. It'll plug right into the existing slot (in place of the 1355), the proms know about it, and I don't believe that they're too expensive, but I haven't priced them in a couple of years. They're about 310Meg.
