My machine will not be forwarding mail or news, for now, to other machines. "Smarter mailhost" is defined here as one which is a UUCP site using "pathalias" for UUCP mail routing. In addition, this machine has a direct connection to another which is on the Internet. I can set up UUCP without any problems, but I'm no expert Sendmail hacker. If you have any tips for modifying the sendmail files supplied by Sun, beyond what the Sun manuals say, I'll be glad to get them. thanks, mark ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ biggers@dg-rtp.dg.com USMail: Data General OR: rti!dg-rtp!biggers 62 Alexander Drive Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 (919) 286-1441 RSN: ...!foxfire!biggers ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Sep 89 14:13:32 EDT From: Adam Fritz Subject: Connecting Cheap Dot Matrix Printers to Suns. To: Suns-at-Home@orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu I'm interesed in any experiences people have had hooking up simple dot matrix devices to their sun workstations. In particular: 1) What printer and interface adaptor, most of the devices I'm interested in have only a || interface, do you use? 2) What is your printcap entry? 3) Do you have a sunraster dump for it? 4) How have you interfaced it to lpr, ie how did you support troff/nroff TeX etc. Adam Fritz atf@sun.soe.clarkson.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Sep 89 13:45:20 edt From: Mark Biggers Subject: various Sun-2 questions and a request... To: suns-at-home%orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu@RELAY.CS.NET Howdy all, I recently acquired a Sun 2/120 with Archive tape and SCSI disks (2-70mb Micropolis), and 5mb of memory for home use. Since it came with a 30-day "warranty" of sorts, and I've noted some hardware flakiness, I thought I might get some insights on these problems and report back to the seller. Some problems: * The left 1/4 of the screen has "pixels missing". When I look at text in a shelltool in this area, the characters look like they've been shotgunned :^). Ideas? * Once, the mouse cursor was "out of control", and the 2nd and 3rd mouse buttons would not respond (menus would not come up, extended selection not possible). The cursor would drift, and eventually I powered the machine down. The problem has gone away for now, but does this mean a flako zs1 serial port, or mouse? * I've got sysdiag stuff, but can this be used to test the mouse/keyboard ports? How? A request: I will gladly pay for a copy of the Sun-2 hardware docs, and other relevant info on the individual boards (I have the CPU, mono video, memory, SCSI, ec0 ethernet and Sky FFP boards), if anyone is willing to do this. happy hacking, mark ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ biggers@dg-rtp.dg.com USMail: Data General OR: rti!dg-rtp!biggers 62 Alexander Drive Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 (919) 286-1441 home RSN: ...!foxfire!biggers ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
