The screen prints the following. self test completed successfully. Sun Workstation model Sun-2/120 or Sun-2/170, Sun-2 keyboard ROM Rev N, 3MB memory installed serial# 66466, Ethernet address 8:0:1:0:5:66 Auto-Boot in Progress... Boot: sd(0,0,0)vmunix Exception 2c at 00603A > If I then try to boot from tape with the following command b st() The tape runs and I get st: error 96A0 Any suggestions as to what to do would be appreciated. Here is a trick that I learned from one of the service techicians at work. The older 2/120 used to come with the Archive tape drives (scsi type). On the circuit board on the tape, front and center is a row of jumpers labeled AA-??. jumper CC controls whether the drive is in QIC11 or QIC24 mode after a scsi reset. CC in is QIC24. Set the jumper to coresonde with the tape format listed on the label of tape 1 of the OS set. I believe it should be out (QIC11). Once you get the machine up in miniunix, mount up /dev/??0a and run /usr/mdec/installboot. install boot is a script, so look at it to determine what the command syntax is. After doing that, the machine should boot properly. =========================================================================== Mark Holm ..tektronix!ogcvax!cvedc!exc!markh Exceptions ..tektronix!tessi!exc!markh 126 NE Grant Phone (503)648-8307 Hillsboro, Oregon 97124 Messages only until after 6:00 PM One cannot accomplish the impossible, without first attempting the absurd! ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
