To: suns-at-home@tigger.net-kitchen.com I have two of those disk boxes that came out with the Sun 386i model number 599-1708-02 (part EXP-2). One of the boxes is complete with two disk drives and a bit of dust. The other is a case with power supply that is missing one panel. Best offer to a good home or I put em up on eBAY and see what falls... -d David Fickes david@advice.com ADVICE Press phone: 650/321-2198 480 California Avenue - Suite 104 fax: 650/321-2199 Palo Alto, CA 94306 - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 May 1999 20:40:44 -0400 (EDT) From: Zachary Uram Subject: need help attaching terminal to IPX To: post+comp.sys.sun.admin@andrew.cmu.edu, Hi! I have Data General terminal which I would like to use as a console for my IPX. The terminal has 3 ports: 9-pin male "Aux", 25-pin female "Parallel", 25-pin female "Main". My IPX has some port on back in far left which I don't know what it is for, then there is 15-pin female port which I don't know what it is for, then two 8-pin female serial ports "A" and "B", a video port, a mouse port and some apparent audio port (?). I have a sun cable which has 25-pin female end and the other end says "A/B" and is 8-pin male. I figured this 8-pin male end went into the "A" serial port on the IPX so I plugged it in, at the IPX PROM prompt I typed "ttya ?" (I forget what the ? was, I set it by looking up ttya in help) tos et all input/output to the A serial port then I got a male/female gender changer which I attached to the other end of the Sun cable and plugged this into the "MAIN" port on my terminal. I turned everything on and nothing happened :( The terminal screen is just blank and lit. So I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can get this working.
