Responce ran about 5 to 1 in favour of keeping things in digest form. So we'll stick to the digest format for now. Several respondents indicated that they liked the volume and low "noise" level of this list. My thanks to all of you who responded and to those who have contributed to Suns-at-Home. --Dwight D. Here at the Laboratory, we have found that Sun releases no technical information useful for diagnostics and repair; further, should a custom chip fail, we understand that Sun will not sell the replacement chip but only the entire board. For a Sun 3 this costs at least $1800. This is not an idle thought; we have had several board level failures on Sun 3/50 machines and have had to purchase new boards. On much of the other equipment that we have, our on-site maintenance contractor might have diagnosed and repaired the board. _Brint ------------------------------ End of Suns-at-Home Digest ******************************
