[Suns-at-Home] LCD Panels

I learnt the hard way with LCD panels that you do
need to check the exact resolutions / frequencies that
the panels will sync to. Many companies list them
in some detail - HP for example.
My Sun 3/80 outputs 1152x900x76 and I managed to find
a panel that would support that. Many wont though. In
some ways the old CRT monitors were more forgiving in
terms of syncing to non PC resolutions.
Another thing to watch for is the way the resolution is
scaled to fit the panel. If you are using a wide screen
LCD panel, its useful to have a scaling mode which fills
the screen to the 'aspect ratio' of the sun output.
On my monitor, the Sun resolution scales but doesn't fill
the entire wide screen, so the aspect ratio is still
correct. Otherwise the display can look 'flattened' on a
wide screen monitor.
