As its only one machine, save yourself the hassle & use the builtin vpn feature in openssh, see the section titled "SSH-BASED VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORKS" here: http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=ssh You'll need a recent version of openssh at both ends (5.1?) as v4.1 & v4.2 could only do vpns on the *BSD.
