Sorry, I've only worked with LCDs on Ultra 5/10 and 20 (Opteron machine), as well as the SunBlade 1000 (with a DVI interface), and have had no real problems, unless the framebuffer is locked at a certain, incompatible setting, but <stop>-<n> usually corrects that)...

If it is new, I've always gotten 100% working, but I do know that different Mfg. have different thresholds for # of failed pixels before a panel is considered "bad" and in need of replacement - check the Mfg. website before purchase if you are worried about that...
IMHO it is _reasonable_ to _expect_ 100% working, but that may not be the case.
