I have a Dlink print hub (DP-301P IIRC) running at work,
supporting a couple of HP Laserjet printers via parallel ports. I
don't know about Solaris, but the DP-301 is supporting CUPS from
Debian Linux and RPRINT from a Novell system. There are also a
couple of window boxes that connect to it using LPR.
To date, I have not had any problems with it. I would imagine that
same could apply to a USB ported hub.
