[Suns-at-Home] Sparcstation 2 booting problem

Hi All,
 I bought a used Sparcstation 2. I would like to connect to it using a
serial interface - actually that is my only option as I do not have a
Sun keyboard or monitor. When I connect to the sparc and turn it on I get 
this message:

WARNING: Unable to determine keyboard typeCan't open input device.

< then nothing else, ever >

 I understand that the input device is probably set somewhere in EEPROM.
Is there a way to clear these values without using a Sun keyboard? 

 Anything else that I should be trying?
