"I recently noticed that my sun sparc 2 had 2 interfaces (aui). One onboard,

"out to put the network card in nicely. That worked. no problemo. (is there
"some kind of weird trick to put these cards in or are they just not
"compatible???) Anyway i had to pull one memory simm out as well, laying it
"on the floor.

the sbus-card faceplates are different, but iirc the 10's is the
bigger... maybe i have it backwards.

i don't understand at all why you had to touch the simms to install an
sbus card.

"After i completely screwed my sparc ;-( i rebooted it and it said;

"48 megs of ram <= not true! i had 64 megs
"and something like
""can't deduct msgbuf from physical memory (program terminated)

this is a symptom of bad/loose/missing simm in the low memory slot.
there -must- be a simm in this slot! confusing this is that the slots
are -not- in mem-address order.

"I'm really pissed at myself that i've gone this far and now i most likely
"fscked up a perfectly good sparc. I think it might had some static
"eletricity or something.

this is possible.
