Hi Andrew,

do you have installed the latest patches?

If this is true, why don't give pppd-2.3.11 a chance? When I changed from
modem to dsl I had problems getting asppp (Sol7) running with rp-pppoe. Now
I use pppd with no problems at all (except that a ringbuffer overflow
crashed my system until i set 'ctsrts' as an pppd option ;-).
Btw this is the pppd which comes with most (if not all) linux distributions
and it has more features than asppp.

There are rumors that asppp is 'not really recommended' before 2.7 but I
don't know why. Anyway, 2.7 worked fine for me (as 2.5 for you I suppose).

You can get pppd here:
ftp://cs.anu.edu.au/pub/software/ppp/ or a patched version on
http://playground.sun.com/pppd/

Good luck,
piet...
